Our Approach
We Don't Assume
One thing about inhaler testing -- don't assume. Sure, the equipment looks easy. The users are smart people. So, what could go wrong?
That is exactly the right question. We ask it all the time; the sensible approach to training and methods is all about risk reduction. Take a look at the picture on the left -- there is a good filter upstream of this high-quality flow meter. Is the filter important (hint; yes!). What does the filter do (hint, this is a hot-film flow meter). Do smart users forget this filter sometimes (no hint needed)?
Our Story
From the Ground Up
I got my start as a graduate student with one of the fathers of ambient particle behavior, Dr. Sheldon Friedlander. I had the good fortune to work hand-in-hand with Dr. Virgil Marple in the development of the Next Generation Impactor, in a special project funded by the leaders of the pharmaceutical inhaler manufacturing companies, who called themselves the Next Generation Impactor Consortium. I devised the manufacturing and inspection methods for the NGI during my 19 years at MSP Corporation (now a wholly owned subsidiary of TSI Incorporated, Shoreview, MN).
